Dr. José M. Abuín was born in Rianxo (Galicia), in 1982. He received his BSc in Computer Science in 2012, MSc in High Performance Computing in 2013 and PhD in Information Technologies 2017, all of them at the University of Santiago de Compostela. While carrying out his studies he worked at different places as Software Engineer and Researcher. Among these places are the Galicia Supercomputing Centre (CESGA), the Applied Mathematics Department at the USC, CiTIUS, DXC Technology and ITMATI. He also performed a research stay at the Johannes Gutenberg University, in Mainz (Germany), and at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), in Barcelos (Portugal).

Nowadays he is a Scientific Software Developer at Mestrelab Research S.L., where he builds high performance software for projects mainly related with Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). His other interests are focused on High Performance Computing, Big Data technologies, genomics, parallel programming and scientific simulation. He is also an enthusiastic of Open Source Software.
