Mestrelab Research inaugurates its new Research Center (CIM) in Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela, November 7, 2024

Mestrelab Research, a leading scientific data company based in Santiago de Compostela, is counting down the days to a major milestone in its trajectory: the inauguration of the new Mestrelab Research Center (CIM), which will officially open its doors on November 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The center is located at Avenida de Barcelona, 7, Santiago de Compostela.

The new facility, which spans over 2,000 square meters, represents a strategic investment of €9.4 million, with half of the funding provided by the company and the other half subsidized by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN). This state-of-the-art center is set to become a hub for research and development (R&D) in Galicia, significantly boosting Mestrelab’s R&D capacity.

The center will play a crucial role in the development of advanced digital tools for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Its mission is to accelerate research in these fields, with a particular focus on cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics

According to Mr. Santiago Domínguez, CEO of Mestrelab, the center is designed to house over 300 researchers, specializing in STEM fields, including mathematicians, software engineers, AI specialists, chemists, biochemists, and biologists. These experts will work on applications of new technologies to the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, and chemical industries.

In addition to Mestrelab’s own activities, the company plans to dedicate part of the facility to shared laboratories for start-ups, fostering innovation and supporting early-stage companies focused on technology and disruptive business models.

Mestrelab Research is already a global player in the scientific data market, providing data processing and analysis services to top universities, major pharmaceutical laboratories, and multinational companies. With customers in over 80 markets across Europe, the United States, China, Japan, and beyond, the company is set to further expand its global reach from its new base of operations.

The inauguration will be attended by Mr. Alfonso Rueda Valenzuela, President of the Xunta de Galicia; Mr. Román Rodríguez González, Minister of Education, Science, Universities, and Professional Training; Mrs. Goretti Sanmartín Rei, Mayor of Santiago de Compostela; and Mrs. Carmen Cotelo Queijo, Director of GAIN. The event will be hosted by Mr. Falko Busse, President of Bruker BioSpin, and Mr. Santiago Domínguez, President of SciY.
