Top features in Mnova 16

Mnova 16 is live!

We’re proud to introduce the latest version of Mnova, featuring updated products such as Mgears 2.7, Mnova Hub 1.1, Chrom Cal 1.1, and qNMR 3.3. This release delivers a range of novel features, performance improvements, and essential bug fixes—designed to streamline your workflows and boost your analytical productivity.

 

1. Mnova – Python Engine    

Python has become the leading programming language in the scientific community, thanks to its versatility, readability, and powerful libraries for data analysis, automation, and visualization. With Mnova’s integrated Python Engine, users can harness this power to automate tasks, customize analyses, and interact programmatically with Mnova data.

In this version, the Python Engine has been significantly enhanced with:

  • New scripting functionalities
  • Updated examples to help you get started
  • Expanded documentation for better support and learning

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced coder, now is the perfect time to start scripting in Mnova. Open the Python Engine, explore the examples, and take control of your workflows with custom automation tailored to your needs.

2. NMR – Allotrope ASM    

With Mnova 16, users can now import and export NMR data in the ASM format, enhancing compatibility with Allotrope[1] – compliant systems and workflows.

For 1D and 2D NMR experiments, Mnova saves the following information in ASM:

  • Experiment data and experiment parameters (spectrometer, field, solvent, time, etc.)
  • Processing parameters (baseline correction, phase correction, etc.)
  • Peak and multiplet analyses (for 1D NMR only)

[1] The Allotrope Foundation is a scientific consortium focused on developing data standards to enable seamless data exchange, system interoperability, and improved data integrity across the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries. One of its key initiatives is the Allotrope Data Format (ADF), which includes the Allotrope Simple Model (ASM) – a lightweight, standardized format designed to store analytical data along with its associated metadata.

 

3. Mnova – Command Palette 

The new “Command Palette” is a streamlined search box designed to accelerate your workflow by providing quick access to commands and actions across the application.

Inspired by modern development tools, the “Command Palette” lets you search, filter, and execute commands without navigating menus. Whether you’re processing spectra, launching plugins, or configuring settings, everything is just a keystroke away.

4. Mnova – Advanced Plug-ins Indicator 

A new color-coded status icon has been added to Mnova to help you effortlessly manage your Advanced Plug-ins.

Each color represents a specific status:

  • Dark grey – No status data available (typically just after Mnova installation)
  • Green – All Advanced Plug-ins are up to date
  • Red – One or more updates are available but not yet installed
  • Yellow – A restart is required to complete an update (e.g., after adding a new plug-in)
  • Orange – Updates available and a restart is required

A simple yet effective visual enhancement that provides a clear, at-a-glance overview of your plugins’ status directly within the Mnova workspace.

 

5. Mgears 2.7 

Mgears 2.7 delivers major enhancements to improve automation, flexibility, and system integration in analytical workflows.

5.1. Mnova Hub now available in Mgears as a new input

Mgears can now retrieve input data directly from LOGS or ZONTAL data management platforms through Mnova Hub for analysis, simplifying data integration processes.

5.2. Portable Mgears settings

It is now possible to save and share scripts, templates, and auxiliary files effortlessly, as part of the Mgears settings (.mgrs files). This simplifies sharing and re-using methods significantly.

5.3. NoSQL DB connector

A new connector is available for saving Mgears analysis results to a NoSQL database. This feature will enable Mgears users to utilize all the capabilities of NoSQL databases, such as searching, comparing results, fast reviewing, retrieving statistics, and more.

6. Mnova Hub 1.1 

Mnova Hub 1.1 now integrates with LOGS, a cloud–native platform serving as a centralized repository for analytical data, allowing users to retrieve, modify, and store data in LOGS directly from within Mnova.

Additionally, improvements to the ZONTAL provider enhance usability and expand support for .zip files containing ‘.mnova’ documents.

7. Chrom Cal 1.1 

Chrom Cal 1.1 brings several powerful new features including support for internal standards, a new quadratic regression model, new input options with retention time and m/z, and the ability to handle multiple targets and calibration curves within a single workflow, among others.

8. qNMR 3.3 

The latest version of the qNMR plugin (3.3) brings numerous enhancements to streamline Concentration and Purity workflows. With a refined interface, new settings, and improved performance in batch analysis (Gears Concentration and Purity), qNMR is now more efficient and intuitive.
